John has over 20 years of fieldwork and project management experience in the research, mining, oil and gas sectors, firstly as a geologist in Democratic Republic of Congo and following completion of his MSc in South Africa, as hydrogeologist. He is currently PhD canditate at University of Kwazulu Natal/ Hydrogeology. He is SACNASP (Water Resources Science) registered (Registration number:114752).

John was a Field Technical Researcher at the School of Bioresources Engineering and Environmental Hydrology at University of KwaZulu-Natal and joined Groundwater Consulting Services (GCS) as a Field hydrogeologist and ERM Southern Africa as a Project Manager prior to recently opening up Geo hydraulic and Environmental Technology (GET) South Africa office. He gained extensive experience in geophysical surveys (Electrical Resistivity Tomography, GPR, Magnetometer, EM34), drilling supervision and quality control, groundwater development and supply, groundwater monitoring and management, aquifer testing and in developing geological and hydrogeological conceptual models for groundwater modeling. He managed various hydrogeological investigations for contaminated sites and environmental impact assessments (EIA), Environmental management plan (EMP), water use licence application (WULA) and waste management licence application (WMLA), mining water management studies.

John worked in South Africa, DRC Congo and Mauritania for Clients including AngloGold Ashanti, Richards Bay Mineral (Rio Tinto), Tasiast Mauritania Mine (Kinross), Xstrata Coal Mine, Tenke Fungurume Mine (Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold), Shell South Africa, Engen South Africa, Sasol South Africa, Sapref, Mondi Ltd, Sappi Saiccor. Ngeleka is originally from DRC Congo and now has South African permanent residence and is fluent in both English and French.

Key Projects: 

South Africa (2007-2009): Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd

Project:  Geohydrological Specialist Assessment as part of EIA and WULA for the Proposed Richards Bay Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant at Richards Bay Site, Kwazulu-Natal.

Mauritania (2011-2012): Kinross-Tasiast Gold Mines

Project: Tasiast Well Field Expansion. The project consisted of a Wellfield design and development, groundwater monitoring and management; Developing of a Hydrogeological and geological conceptual model for groundwater modeling. Aquifer testing data were fed into wellfield groundwater numerical model and reported in both in French and in English to the Mine.

Democratic Republic of Congo (2014): Tenke Fungurume Mine ( Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold)

Project:  Extension of mine groundwater monitoring network. The Project consisted of drilling supervision and installation of monitoring wells, sampling of groundwater using Hydrasleeves, near Kwatebala, Fungurume hills and Mwadinkomba.

Solomon from the Democratic Republic of Congo is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and he can fluently speak and write both English and French language. Solomon graduated from the School of Environmental Science at the University of South Africa and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management: Botany Stream. He has many years of experience working as a French interpreter for various Non-Governmental Organizations in different International Conventions which took place in the DRC. Solomon has 5 years of experience in the environmental field. His specific interest includes water, soil science, terrestrial ecology, environment and occupational health and safety. Solomon is a member of the KwaZulu-Natal branch of the International Association for Impact Assessment South Africa (IAIAsa) and a regional affiliate member of the International Association for Public Participation Southern Africa (IAP2).

Solomon has intensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) covering both the Basic Assessment (BA) and full Impact Assessment process; compiling Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) for new and existing developments; undertaking Public Participation Process (PPP) exercises to facilitate EIAs, BA, or WULA; compiling Integrated Water and Waste Management Plan (IWWMP); undertaking the duties of Environmental Control Officer (ECO); compiling desktop study, Pre-feasibility, Feasibility Assessments and Due diligence report.

Key Projects:

Station Road Bridge (Pietermaritzburg): Developed a site specific EMPr to manage all phases of the development, organised and conducted the public participation process and managed the water use license application

Construction of a Pedestrian Bridge No. 3398 over the Mbane River, Dannhauser: managing the water use license application and developing a site specific EMPr to manage all phases of the development

Road P254/1 Upgrade, Ugu: Conducted the public participation process, wrote the draft and Final Basic assessment report, managed the water use license application and developed a site specific EMPr to manage all phases of the development.

Upington CPV Solar Plant Facility and Associated Infrastructures, Northern Cape: co-wrote the Visual Impact Assessment Scoping Report for the project

Majuba Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility and Associated Infrastructures, Mpumalanga: co-wrote the Visual Impact Assessment Scoping Report for the project;

Tutuka 65mw Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility and Associated Infrastructures, Mpumalanga: co-wrote the Visual Impact Assessment Scoping Report for the project.

Misheck MUSOKWA

Misheck is a agronomist with 8 years’ working experience. He holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Zimbabwe and is currently doing a Masters at University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa under Water Research Commission (WRC) project titled water use in agroforestry systems implemented by Institute of Natural Resources (INR).

He has worked in the Ministry of Agriculture in Zimbabwe and has been involved on various projects in Ethiopia, Malawi, and Mozambique in addition to South Africa.

Misheck has been collaborating with many international organizations which include Food Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO), African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT), and International Centre for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) on various projects which include conservation agriculture with trees (Evergreen agriculture), water harvesting practices, soil and water conservation management practices.

Misheck was an agroforestry training consultant for Dzikwa Trust, local NGO in Harare for 5 years in their URBAN CONSERVATION AGRICULTURE with TREES (EVERGREEN AGRICULTURE) project funded by Finnish Foreign Affairs Ministry. He has been collaborating with many international organizations which include World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) on BUILDING CAPACITY AND UPSCALING AGROFORESTRY IN ZIMBABWE. Food Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on UPSCALING CONSERVATION FOR IMPROVED SECURITY IN ZIMBABWE project, African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT) on BUILDING CAPACITY FOR UPTAKE OF CONSERVATION AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGIES TO ENHANCE FOOD SECURITY AND RESILIENCE TO CLIMATE CHANGE IN MANICA PROVINCE MOZAMBIQUE funded by Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) PROGRAMME ON CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION AND MITIGATION IN THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICA (COMESA-EAC-SADC) region and International Centre for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) on Support to Agricultural Research for Development of Strategic Crops (SARD-SC)-STABILIZING WHEAT YIELDS THROUGH BETTER CROP, SOIL AND WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECT IN ZIMBABWE funded by AfDB.

Misheck interests are agroforestry, conservation agriculture, climate change, water and land resource utilization, the environment, livelihoods and indigenous knowledge systems.

Silva Mbiya KALENGA

Silva has successfully completed his Advanced Diploma in Business Management at South African Institution of Management (SAIM) and his a proud member of the organisation (SAIM membership number: 15730).

Human Resources Strategy, Economics Strategy, Management Strategy and Marketing Strategy have been his driving force and passion, where there also serve as his majors.

He has previously worked for Priced2Go, Footsoldiers and Tambwe Consulting, respectively and all these positions were in the Marketing department.

Garden has successfully completed her honour degree in industrial psychology at university of Kinshasa in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), majoring in human resources.

Garden has excellent writing and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills. She works well in a team also as an individual. She has a superior ability to achieve immediate and long-term goals. She is fluent in both English and French.
